I recently moved house and there was a coating to one of the ceilings which I paid my kids age 10 and 12 to scrape off turns out it was blue asbestos. Is it as bad as people say.

I looked at a rental home today, it looked REALLY old. I spent about 20 minutes inside and started to feel asthma symptoms. The ceiling was a drop-panel ceiling (some of the panels had cracks) and the basement smelled so musty and gross that I almost had to hold my breath. There was what appeared to be pink insulation laying in a pile on the floor in the basement. Might I have gotten asbestos poisoning from being in there?
