A recent report showed that sixty percent of Americans live in areas with unhealthy air pollution levels. Can this cause lung cancer?

yes, but smoking is the easiest way to get lung cancer. This is why some people move away from the busiest parts of America to escape the pollution from cars

There are numerous cities around the world where it is claimed that breathing the air is equivalent to smoking a multitude of cigarettes per day

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it could cause lung cancer but I do believe it will certainly contribute to the disease.. I suppose it would have to do with exposure over a period of time.. Pollution certainly causes upper respiratory problems ..
