Lung Cancer Questions
I’ve smoked about 20 something cigarettes in the entire 15 years of my life. I’ve had these small pains on my ribcage area for a few days now but they’re not really THAT painful.. and i’ve lost my appetite a bit, but i still get hungry.. I’m really scared though, but no one in my family has had lung cancer.

No, 15 year olds don’t get lung cancer. Lung cancer is rarely diagnosed in people younger than 40, but after 40 lung cancer rates rise sharply and peak between 75-84 years
It’s the length of time you’re a smoker for, more than how much you smoke, that’s a risk factor for lung cancer.
If a smoker stops smoking at any stage, their risk of lung cancer reduces. This from Cancer Research UK:
”A lifelong male smoker has a cumulative risk of 15.9% for developing lung cancer by age 75. For men who cease smoking at ages 60, 50, 40 and 30 years, their cumulative risk of dying from lung cancer falls to 9.9%, 6.0%, 3.0% and 1.7% respectively ”
You don’t have lung cancer; and the best way to reduce your risk of it later in life is to make those 20 cigarettes the only ones you ever have

Anyone at any age can get Lung Cancer. Lung cancer varies on its causes such as Smoking and Viral Infection. If you are concerned about your health, I recommend going to a Doctor.

Now that you have had this scare, it’s time to quit smoking. I don’t think you could have lung cancer at this young age. You may have a cold or respiratory infection. You should see a doctor.
