I had an asbestos scare a year ago and recently found a new job, well my boss cut up a fire door. I have learned alot about asbestos in the last year and was a good distance away while the cutting was going on with a circular saw. I had no idea it was a fire door until I saw the dust under the door and the gray sheet between the wood laminate. Anyhow after what I have already been through i am freaking out again I was told to pick up one of the pieces of the door and throw away and I did so my exposure was minimal but with this being amosite asbestos I am really freaking out I came home threw away my clothes and shoes i had on that day and vaccumed my car but I cant keep from thinking I brought home dust to my kids and wife.
If there are any Doctors on here that can offer up any advice I would appreciate it. Also is this a legal matter because I am not sure I can bring myself to return to this job and have to use he contaminated tools .
I unfortunately was not wearing a mask , because it was unknown the door was a fire door until cut .We were however outdoors.

I’ve just moved into an older apt complex that has Asbestos in the ceiling. They say that it should be ok and they have not had any problems but in the fine print it says to notify them if the ceiling is ruptured as this may cause a risk of exposure.

The Asbestos itself is an issue that I could live with. I only plan on being in this place for a year and from what I understand of Asbestos, it is only a problem

a) over very long exposure

b) it has to be disturbed and actually in the air.

The thing I’m concerned about is, last year I was diagnosed with severe "sleep anea" and thus I have to wear a mask hooked up to a CPAP machine.
for those who don’t know (i didn’t know 8 months ago) it’s basically a machine that feeds air to you all night because apparently I have a tendency to "stop breathing" when I sleep. this air is of course brought in from around the machine and it has a small filter but still I am kindof concerned.

Should I be more or less concerned using a CPAP here?

I just moved into an apartment that was built probably in the 1940′s from what I understand and had to sign something about how their might be asbestos due to the time the building was built. But, as long as I don’t really mess with the ceilings I should be fine. I was looking at the ceiling and I see their are these puncture marks, it looks like from a pole or something or maybe I did it accidentally when I was carrying large paintings that could have jabbed at the ceiling. Anyways, do you think the punctures could be spilling out asbestos or if I did it did I disrupt it so that my dogs and I have been exposed to it?

I don’t know much about asbestos and the more I try to find info, the more lost I get.

I just need to know if asbestos is in the popcorn ceilings or if its above it or how you know if you can be exposed to it without having to do the testing thing which freaks me out since you have to cover you hair, body, wear a mask…etc.

In a prior building I lived in, they just tore out the popcorn ceiling and added a wall to separate bedrooms, and they didn’t seem concerned about the asbestos although that building has been around much longer than the apartment I live in now.

I can see that some of the popcorn ceiling has been patched over with paint I think, so I’m just wondering what I should do.

Should I call the apartment and tell them to paint over the punctured ceiling?…which appear to have been painted over….I don’t know I guess I’m just freaking out a bit.

Any, anything concerning asbestos would be great. Thanks in advance

do you need specialist people to remove an asbestos roof after a fire or can you do it yourself if you wear a mask?
