I have been photographing the inside of an abandoned school building the past two days. I’ve been wearing a mask but I still inhaled alot of dust/dirt/possibly asbestos. I can feel it all in my lungs and I keep coughing. Is there anything I can do to make it better? I do not smoke. I have allergies, but Claritin isn’t helping with my lungs.
Can I do something to clear this all out or do I just wait it out? It feels best to be outside, which it’s cold and rainy today, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.
Should i keep working for my uncle? He works with boilers gas asbestos and all that boiler stuff like baseboards. The problem is i am allergic to dust mold and all that other stuff. The big thing that concerns me is i have alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. Since i have that i really should avoid dust mold and cigarette smoke which he smokes. Should i just stop? I think if i keep working with him i will get emphysema not in 30s but late 20s. I tried a mask but it really dosent help with my allergies.
I know it was a bit dusty and I didnt wear a mask till half way.. im scared and paranoid…what should I do ?
Home was build 40yrs ago…. I did it to remodel… the people at home depot told me just to water it down and scrape it off… i didnt know…I herd that it was in the addict.. as in a layer on top of the drywall
Thank you…I was up all night scared for my future.. thanks!
My brother 14, my sister 15, me 16 2yrs ago wen our adoptive parents decided that they wanted to put new insulation in our attic. They paid us to remove the old insulation. beings that the house was an old log cabin & built in the early 1900′s or late 1800′s it was filled with asbestos. My little brother was teh one doing most the work. but i helped him bag it up & vacume it out. (my sister was outside throwing it away) they gave us masks to use but beings im soo small my mask did nothing for me & i would have a dark blob on the inside when i took it off from inhailing it. i had to stop after 3 days because it made me sick & i still see little grey specks when i spit sometimes. but a few months later my brother was taken to the hospital & they had to ship him out on a helicopter to the closest ICU. he was in the hospital for a week & i think he had to have surgery. the doctors said he had water around his heart (pericardial effusion) & he almost died. was it cuz the asbestos?
For about a week i worked with my friends dad fixing up an old house. i removed old insulation, and put new insulation in. i was wondering if this short amount of time working with insulation had any effect on my lungs. At another time i spent probably 10 hours total stripping and handling asbestos wire with intent to sell it to a scrap yard. i was unaware that it could cause damage until a friend of my dads told me. how much damage do you think that did? i am wondering all of this because cross country running season is starting soon, and i am looking for ways to increase lung capacity, and strengthen my lungs, is there any way to repair the damage done?
thankss :]
i wasent wearing a mask because i diden tknow it was harmful at the time
So tonight me a few friends decided to foolishly enter the underground tunnels at our university. We went down several straight paths, altogether probably a mile. It was very hot in the tunnels and we were surrounded by a little steam and big white pipes which said "asbestos" on them. We spent about 2 hours there and then left and while leaving we saw on the other side of the door said "caution asbestos material and hazard" and then me and my friends realized that perhaps the workers that work down there wear masks and we were exposed for a good two hours with no mask. Am I in trouble? What are the symptoms of contamination in your body? Please help, I am worried.
